MUSICAL THEATRE

 

Musical Theatre Class, featuring selections from hit Disney Channel television shows & movies such as Descendants, Hannah Montana, Zombies, Phineas and Ferb, Camp Rock, High School Musical and more! This performance based class is for triple threats in the making. Musical Theatre Class will help build your performance confidence through dancing, acting and singing. This class is for those who are looking to grow in various different aspects of Musical Theatre. Each student will be assigned a line or solo and expected to memorize lines/choreography. All to prepare for the showcase to follow after the last class. 

 

We will spend each week practicing for a performance that will take place at 6:30pm after the last class on May 20th. The showcase will be approximately 15 minutes long. This is a 7- week class session. The first class is Monday, April 8th, and the last class is Monday, May 20th.

 

This class is designed for students ages 8-14.

IMPROV

 

Have you ever wondered what to do when you forget a line or how to make bold choices on the spot? Well, this is the perfect class for you! Improvisation is a form of live theatre in which the plot, characters and dialogue are made up in the moment. Through fun improv games and exercises students will learn the fundamentals of improv focusing on character, relationship, objectives and environment.

 

 This is a 7- week class session.

The first class is Monday, April 8th, and the last class is Monday, May 20th.

 

This class is designed for students ages 8-14.

TAP I/II

Tap Dance classes explore the two traditions of rhythm tap (hoofing) and Broadway tap. Class begins with warm up exercises in the center that increase control, coordination, and rhythm, followed by across the floor exercises that teach dynamics, and musicality. The goal is to develop tap dancers that are equally strong musicians, dancers, and performers. Students will learn the basics and build a strong foundation of classic steps, while putting together a routine. No experience is necessary, and tap shoes are required for all students!



This is a 7 week long session. First class is Wednesday April 17 and the last class is Wednesday, June 12th. There is no class on May 8 & May 15.

 

 

This class is designed for students ages 7-15.

HIP-HOP

 

Hip Hop is for students who want to learn how to move and groove. Hip Hop dance is a variety of different street dance styles that are performed to hip-hop music. Students in this class will learn the fundamentals of the style along with various staple moves seen in different styles of Hip Hop dance. This class is suitable for dancers who are seeking dance training outside of just the foundational styles. Sneakers are required to be worn by all students. 

 

This is a 7 week long session. First class is Wednesday April 17 and the last class is Wednesday, June 12th. There is no class on May 8 & May 15.

DANCE FUNDAMENTALS

 

Dance fundamentals is for students who are looking to expand their knowledge of dance. We cover basic technique for multiple genres of dance including: Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Lyrical, and Contemporary. This is a great opportunity for new performers to figure out  which style of dance they like best and for experienced performers to really hone their skills. Dancers will be learning various styles of dance and each week will be notified of what they will need to bring with them to the next class. Shoes requirements for this class are socks, ballet shoes or jazz shoes(all three are not required) and sneakers. There will be a tap unit during our 7-weeks together. If your student has tap shoes they are more than welcome to bring them that week but they are not a required purchase for the class and students will just wear sneakers instead. Students should come in comfortable clothes that they can move in. No jeans.

CALLBACK CHOREO

 

Callback Choreo will be a 7-week long class where each week students will be taught  different dance calls from various Broadway shows. This is to help dancers to retain and pick up choreography quickly. We will also be learning what to be prepared for during your dance audition. This is a good opportunity for students to not only learn classic broadway choreography but to grow as an auditioner/performer. Shoes required for this class are either jazz shoes, character shoes or sneakers. Dancers should dress in comfortable clothing they are able to move in. No jeans.

 

This is a 7 week long session. First class is Wednesday April 17 and the last class is Wednesday, June 12th. There is no class on May 8 & May 15.

 

This class is designed for anyone ages 13 and up!

Young Actors' Theatre Participation Liability and Waiver form

This form is intended to be completed by all participants of Young Actors' Theatre including all cast, crew, volunteers, campers and class attendees.  This form MUST be completed before attending any of our programs. If you have not completed this form since September 1, 2023, we will need you to have this completed prior to the first class.
