Step into the enchanted world of Broadway’s modern classic, Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. Based on the Academy Award winning animated feature, Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST includes all of the wonderful songs from the film, written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, plus new songs written especially for the Broadway version by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice.

You will be transported to a lovely French provincial town where the beautiful Belle lives with her father – a dotty inventor. When her father doesn’t return from a trip to the local fair, Belle rushes off to find him. To her dismay, she discovers he is being held captive in an old castle by a horrible beast. She trades her freedom for his and the “Tale as Old as Time” begins.   Belle soon discovers that the castle is enchanted, and has chance enounters with Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, and all of the classic favorite characters. 

How Belle tames the unfortunate Beast and his ultimate transformation into a handsome prince is a classic story, which provides family theatre at its best.  This moving and classic story will be presented at the beautiful Sherwood Auditorium, at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, 700 Prospect Street, La Jolla, CA  92037 from July 10-20, 2008.

Young Actors' Theatre is happy to announce an opportunity to "Take Tea with Belle."  Our younger audince members are encouraged to have their birthday parties, scouting events, or just a fun afternoon prior to our matinee performances.  Children are invited to wear their favorite princess costumes to the event.  Attendees will receive a special lesson in "Tea Paty Etiquette" and will enjoy sweets treats, tea and lemonade, served by Mrs. Potts, Lumiere, Cogsworth & Babette, and of course a chance to visit with Belle.  They will also receive a behind the scenes tour of the theater, and receive a special autograph book for autographs after the show.

At Young Actors' Theatre, we believe that students of all ages should be exposed to the Arts. We accomplish this by offering productions year round.  Our award winning productions are for students and family audiences, and presented by students.  Our current productions are BEAUTY & THE BEAST, which will be presented in July at Sherwood Auditoritum, and ALICE IN WONDERLAND, which will be presented in September.
