Musical Theatre Class, featuring selections from Matilda the Musical! For triple threats in the making! Musical Theatre Class will help build your performance confidence through movement, acting and singing and build the skills necessary to communicate the dramatic content of musical text over a range of musical styles/categories. This is a great introduction into the process of a full production.  Each student will be assigned a line or solo and expected to memorize lines/choreography. First class is Saturday, January 14th and the last class is Saturday, March 4th. There will be a small free showcase on Saturday March 11th showcasing what the students learned during the 7 weeks. Each class is 2 hours long. This class is designed for students ages 8-14.

Acting basics is for the student who wants to grow in their acting skills. In this class students will learn how to analyze a scene/monologue for intentions, beats and character goals. They will also go through many exercises in diction, projection and dialects. Students will learn how to create unique characters, change characters quickly, and learn how to really stand out when acting! There will be a small free showcase on Saturday March 11th showcasing what the students learned during the 7 weeks.

TAP I

Tap Dance is a timeless art that combines dance and percussion. Tap dancers in musicals, movies, television, commercials, and concerts inspire us with their infectious rhythms. Tap Dance classes explore the two traditions of rhythm tap (hoofing) and Broadway tap. Class begins with warm up exercises in the center that increase control, coordination, and rhythm, followed by across the floor exercises that teach dynamics, and musicality. The goal is to develop tap dancers that are equally strong musicians, dancers, and performers. Tap 1 is for those who are looking to start out with the style of tap. Students will learn the basics and build a strong foundation of classic steps, while putting together a routine. No experience is necessary, and tap shoes are required for all students! There will be a small free showcase on Saturday, March 11th showcasing what the students learned during the 8 weeks.

TAP II

Tap 2 is for students who have a foundation of tap, but are looking to grow. Students will build on their knowledge of steps by adding more dynamics and advanced steps. Students taking this class must have prior tap experience. Students must be able to demonstrate shuffle combinations, flap combinations, buffalos, and be able to hold basic tap rhythms taught in Tap 1. Tap shoes are required for all students. There will be a small free showcase on Saturday March 11th showcasing what the students learned during the 8 weeks.

DANCE BASICS

Dance basics, a class where students will learn basic dance skills and terminology. Students will learn basic dance moves such as the famous box step, grapevines, turn combinations, various leaps and jumps, and many more! Students will build a strong foundation of classic steps, while putting together routines. There will be a small free showcase on Saturday March 11th showcasing what the students learned during the 8 weeks.
