MUSICAL THEATRE

 

Musical Theatre Class, featuring selections from hit Broadway Musicals! This class is for the triple threats in the making! Musical Theatre Class will help build your performance confidence through movement, acting and singing and build the skills necessary to communicate the dramatic content of musical text over a range of musical styles/categories. This is a great class for those who are looking for an introduction into the process of a full production.

**This class is designed for students ages 8-14. Each student will be assigned a line or solo and expected to memorize lines/choreography. First class is Monday, September 11th and the last class is Monday, October 23rd. There will be a small free showcase, showcasing what the students learned during the 7 weeks on Saturday, October 28th. Only 20 spots available this session.

TAP I

Tap Dance classes explore the two traditions of rhythm tap (hoofing) and Broadway tap. Class begins with warm up exercises in the center that increase control, coordination, and rhythm, followed by across the floor exercises that teach dynamics, and musicality. The goal is to develop tap dancers that are equally strong musicians, dancers, and performers. Tap 1 is for those who are looking to start out with the style of tap. Students will learn the basics and build a strong foundation of classic steps, while putting together a routine. No experience is necessary, and tap shoes are required for all students!

**This class is designed for students ages 8-14.  First class is Wednesday, September 20th and the last class is Wednesday, 25th. There will be a small free showcase, showcasing what the students learned during the 6 weeks on Saturday, October 28th. Only 10 spots available this session.

TAP II

Tap 2 is for students who have a foundation of tap, but are looking to grow. Students will build on their knowledge of steps by adding more dynamics and advanced steps. Students taking this class must have prior tap experience. Students must be able to demonstrate shuffle combinations, flap combinations, buffalos, and be able to hold basic tap rhythms taught in Tap 1. Tap shoes are required for all students.

**This class is designed for students ages 12-17.  First class is Wednesday, September 20th and the last class is Wednesday, 25th. There will be a small free showcase, showcasing what the students learned during the 6 weeks on Saturday, October 28th. Only 10 spots available this session.

JAZZ I

Jazz I is for students who are looking to start their dance training. Jazz is a core style in many Musical Theatre productions and this class will introduce students who are just starting out to the style. In this class, students will learn terminology as well as the history of the style. From jazz walks to the iconic jazz hands this class will help teach all the fundamentals to students new to Jazz along with strengthening the skills of students with previous Jazz experience. Jazz shoes are required for all students.

**This class is designed for students ages 7-12. First class is Saturday, September 16th and the last class is Saturday, October 21st. There will be a small free showcase, showcasing what the students learned during the 6 weeks on Saturday, October 28th. Only 10 spots available this session.

TEEN JAZZ

 

The style of Jazz focuses on sharp yet fluid motions mixed with animated expressions. In this class we will be splitting the time to focus on both technique and dance combinations. Students will learn various leaps, turns, sequences, walks, and jumps, while putting together a routine.

**This class is designed for students ages 12-17. First class is Monday, September 11th and the last class is Monday, October 23rd. There will be a small free showcase showcasing what the students learned during the 7 weeks on Saturday, October 28th. Only 10 spots available this session.

HIP-HOP

Hip Hop I is for students who want to learn how to move and groove. Hip Hop dance is a variety of different street dance styles that are performed to hip-hop music. Students in this class will learn the fundamentals of the style along with various staple moves seen in different styles of Hip Hop dance. This class is suitable for dancers who are seeking dance training outside of just the foundational styles. Sneakers are required to be worn by all students. 

**This class is designed for students ages 7-14. First class is Saturday, September 16th and the last class is Saturday, October 21st. There will be a small free showcase, showcasing what the students learned during the 6 weeks on Saturday, October 28th. Only 10 spots available this session. Taught by Olesia Winbush**

LEAPS, TURNS & TRICKS

Want to improve your leaps and turns or learn a few cool new tricks then this class is for you. With this class, we’ll be focusing on building the skills it takes to have flawless turns, high leaps, and awesome tricks. This class is for students who are looking to dissect and really understand the work that goes into the leaps and turns they do. Socks, Jazz shoes, or turning shoes are required for all students.

**This class is designed for students ages 12-17. First class is Sunday, September 17th and the last class is Sunday, October 22nd. There will be a small free showcase, showcasing what the students learned during the 6 weeks on Saturday, October 28th. Only 10 spots available this session. Taught by Olesia Winbush**

STRETCH & CONDITIONING

Stretching and Conditioning is for students looking to improve their flexibility and stamina. With this class, students will learn how to properly stretch as well as tone and condition their bodies to be prepared for any dance callback. This class is for students who want to take their dance skills to the next level by adding extra stability to their movements and learning to articulate their bodies in new ways. Stretching and Conditioning is also suitable for newer dancers who want to learn more about their bodies and how their muscles and their movement are connected. Socks or Jazz shoes are required for all students.
