It's boy band vs. girl band in this hilarious brand-new jukebox musical featuring the exciting pop hits of the 1990's.
The show is rated PG-13.
Popstars is a high-energy musical packed with smash hits from the hyper-colored 1990's by artists such as Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, TLC, *NSYNC, Christina Aguilera, MC Hammer, and many more. There is a contstant haze and lots of bright flashing lights.. just like being at a concert.

Astrid is thrilled to be working with YAT once again alongside such a fabulous team! YAT is where Astrid started her theater journey and has been working on and off stage since 2014. Her favorite YAcTing credits include Plankton (Spongebob), Hannah/Others (Puffs!), The Little Mermaid (Disenchanted), The Black Stache (Peter and the Star Catcher), and Olive (Spelling Bee). She has also worked as Stage Manager for The Jungle Book, High School Musical, The Lion King, 13 The Musical, and Nunsense, as well as Assistant Director for Seussical. She would like to thank Chrissy Burns for inviting her to work on this exciting production!

Chrissy Burns is thrilled to be Directing & Choreographing again with YAT. This is the 12th show she has Directed here at YAT (Nunsense, SpongeBob, 42nd Street, Puffs, Freaky Friday, Matilda, Disenchanted, Songs For A New World, Smile, Into The Woods & Snoopy) and she plans to do many more! She has also Directed and Choreographed shows for many of San Diego’s Community and Professional Theaters as well as serving as an Associate at the Old Globe Theatre. She has worked as an actor on many shows and projects throughout San Diego and beyond. Chrissy is a private voice and audition coach preparing her students for a successful career in the performing arts. Chrissy is proud to work and create in the safe, open, environment of YAT and has a passion for mentoring young professionals through theatre training. Chrissy lives in La Mesa with her beloved wife, a former YAcTor herself, Jessica.
MUSICAL DIRECTOR:
Jerrica Ignacio
Jerrica Ignacio (she/her), is an award winning pianist and music director with over a decade of local performance experience in the classical and musical theater communities. Her favorite Musical Director and Conductor credits include productions at Young Actors Theatre, Encore Theater, Carlsbad Community, Lamplighters, Coronado Playhouse, Patio Playhouse, and Teatro San Diego.
CO-CHOREOGRAPHER:
Olesia Winbush
Olesia Winbush is no stranger to performing. She loves the joy and excitement being on stage brings. She has won awards for a number of her dance, theatre and vocal performances. She has participated in many shows at Yat including: SpongeBob the Musical, 42nd Street, Freaky Friday, Disenchanted, Shrek the Musical, Songs for a New World, Smile and Into the Woods. She is also well versed in many styles of dance some of her favorites being Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Tap and Ballet. Now She is excited to be able to share her passion for dance and present a different side of herself to the stage through her choreography. She made her debut as a choreographer while working on SpongeBob the musical where she co-choreographed with director Chrissy Burns. Olesia is thrilled to be apart of this production and hopes to be performing and choreographing for many years to come.
